Clichéd terms like 'fusion' and 'East-meets-West' are often thrown around to describe the music of artists from diverse backgrounds. However, these labels can oversimplify, flatten, and pigeonhole their rich and multifaceted musical styles, potentially reducing them to stereotypes. Nevertheless, from time to time, an artist emerges and creates a path for a better understanding of one another in our complex and dynamic world. In the latest episode, we sit down with Sid Sriram, an Indian-American musician, music producer, and songwriter. He is currently one of the most popular playback singers in India and has recently released his English-language studio album, 'Sidharth,' following his viral Tiny Desk concert. While I may not possess the musical vocabulary to describe Sid's latest album, I can confidently say that it is a work of art that boldly rejects conformity and confinement.
