Operation Devil Eyes: How the CIA Created a Demonic Osama Bin Laden Doll by Ayesha Syed

The news in August 2021 had spread like wildfire; the American troops were to be withdrawn from Afghanistan after 20 long years. The United States invasion of Afghanistan was, according to them, completed to their satisfaction. They invaded Afghanistan under the premise that they were helping them; that the United States were not ones responsible for this disaster. “We were there to protect women’s rights!” is a sentiment echoed from many proud Americans, ironically from a country that in 2022 would come to ban abortions. These words disintegrated as soon as they left their lips.

As 2021 trudged on, the Taliban were able to seize more and more of Afghanistan and by August, Kabul fell to the Taliban. Panic erupted for they had successfully seized Afghanistan. The United States Army packed up their belongings and left, leaving the citizens of Afghanistan to pick up the pieces and figure it out on their own.

Prior to the seizure of Afghanistan, the United States had tried countless times to curb what they believed to be rampant extremism. Not only did they attempt to do this with violence and weapons, but they also began to use other, more creative tactics; tactics meant to infiltrate and influence the minds of innocent people.
