The Arrest of Jagtar Singh Johal

Seven years into Jagtar Singh Johal’s arbitrary imprisonment in India, what has the UK government done to free their citizen?

On November 4th 2017, Jagtar Singh Johal was arrested by plain clothes police in Jalandhar, Punjab. The Scottish national nicknamed ‘Jaggi’ was bundled into a police car in front of numerous witnesses while shopping with his wife. Johal had celebrated his wedding in India just three weeks before the arrest - now he was being accused of aiding the assassinations of far-right political and religious leaders in Punjab in 2016 and 2017.
